A pop art exhibition dedicated to Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin is being portrayed as Superman,

a hockey player, an animal lover, even as Santa Claus,

in a visual exhibition titled “Super Putin” which takes place in Moscow.

The exhibition is dedicated to Russia’s leader,

who is now also being nominated for a fourth presidency.

In a large exhibition space of an old factory that has now

been converted into a museum, in the center of Moscow,

the visitors can admire Vladimir Putin as he strokes a puppy,

holds on to a Russian flag while riding a bear,

or as he launches rockets of Russian colours.

“Every painting underlines an attribute and a value of the president”,

explains Yulia Dyuzheva, one of the exhibitions organisers.

In total, thirty painters and sculptors who represent

Russia’s youth take part in the exhibition, which takes place

at the UMAM Museum until the 15th of January.

“Every artist presents a positive side of Putin. Everyone loves him,

respects him and supports him”, states the 22 year old Russian,

making it clear that “even the most unusual artworks of

the exhibition portray the president in a positive way,

while many of them even portray him as a superhero”.

The opening of the exhibition, which will be travelling

to Berlin and London after Moscow, coincides with the announcement

of Putin’s nomination on Wednesday for the upcoming election in March.

The victory of the election will mean his fourth presidency of the country,

which will last until 2024. It will also make him Russia’s

longest serving leader, after Joseph Stalin.
